Virtual Attendance

VIRTUAL ATTENDANCE MEETS ILLINOIS REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE)

Virtual attendance is always a great option! Our virtual CE events are designed to be interactive and engaging, not boring listen-only "live" webinars. Attendees respond to polls, add comments in the chat, and participate in discussions. Questions can be answered immediately, no need to wait for a short Q&A session at the end of the class. Plus Rehab Connections' virtual labs are unique in the virtual CE market by providing live, real time instructions and cues by 1-2 lab instructors during therapeutic exercises and functional activities. After labs or other activities attendees enjoy sharing their experiences in the chat or just talking together. Plus virtual attendance is convenient, saves travel time and expense for you, and reduces emissions for our planet.

With virtual attendance as approved continuing education for PT professionals in Illinois, you can receive credit for a live course when participating from another location such as your home or clinic.

Approved continuing education in the Administrative Code of the Illinois OT Practice Act includes:

REQUIREMENTS OF VIRTUAL ATTENDEES

During registration, you will show your photo ID to your computer camera.

To earn full CE credit for virtual attendance at a Rehab Connections live CE event, you will be expected to participate using the Zoom chat at least once an hour. Virtual attendees are also expected to be visible in the video 40 minutes of every hour. After lunch and near the end of the CE event, you will be prompted to enter something into the chat to reconfirm your live attendance. Completion of the CE event evaluation is to be completed online using the link in the CE event materials email.

Technology requirements: Zoom can be used on any mobile device or PC from anywhere and connects quickly. For full participation, on your PC or tablet you will need a webcam or camera and a microphone that Zoom can access. Earbuds or headphones and a microphone may be helpful to utilize the audio option.

Also depending on the CE event, you will need to have specific items available. These will be listed in your CE event material email and may include such things as books, floor space and mat, tape measure, or foods with nutrition labels.

PROCEDURES

You do not need to have a Zoom account to utilize Zoom.

Virtual attendees will receive a Zoom meeting invitation in the CE event materials email. Registering in Zoom on your device prior to the CE event is recommended.

Rehab Connections staff will be a virtual host during the CE event to provide technical support, control audio, facilitate discussion, respond to chat questions, and various other activities. Chats and communication with the presenter/instructor and other attendees will be saved digitally as documentation that participants were able to communicate in real time during the live presentation.

Your Zoom options and controls include:

  1. You will be able to mute and unmute your audio for questions and discussion.
  2. You will be able to turn off your video if you need to step away briefly or have an interruption at your location.
  3. You will be able to type into the Chat questions or comments to Everyone, just the presenter/instructor privately, or specific virtual attendees privately.
  4. You will be able to “raise hand” if you have a question to ask or respond to a question by the presenter/instructor.
Suggestion: Have multiple tabs/windows/screens active on your PC or use 2 devices such as one to view your PDF handouts or for online activities and the other device to participate using Zoom.
