Description

From one of our most popular and relevant courses comes a new virtual workshop highlighting key practice insights for optimal rehabilitation of patients after hip and knee arthroplasty. Early rehab exercises will be presented emphasizing cues and unique sequences to facilitate ROM and decrease pain and swelling, then intermediate progressions to normalize gait and functional strength. An overview of 3 clinical practice guidelines associated with hip and knee arthroplasty will support clinical reasoning by the evidence informed clinician.

Objectives

By the completion of this course the participant will be able to correctly:

  1. Develop new individualized therapeutic exercise progressions for challenging TJA cases.
  2. Incorporate a variety of props to facilitate neuromuscular re-education.
  3. Determine optimal therapeutic exercise/activity interventions based on guidelines' recommendations and physicians perspectives.
  4. Expand effective functional progressions by incorporating "core" motor control.

Sheryl Poremba, PT, CCM
Sheryl focuses on the practical, most direct treatments for her patients to see immediate results.  Her exceptional clinical experience and teaching background enables her to actively involve her patients in their treatment program.  Sheryl has used several key tools/props extensively in acute care, home health, and outpatient settings, including a variety of foam rolls, the Magic Circle, yoga blocks, straps, and STM tools.  She has introduced them to hundreds of clinicians during the last 30 years to help them individualize treatment with every patient.

With a strong foundation in PNF from Northwestern University (PT school) and the Institute of Physical Art, Sheryl has added the Pilates Method and principles of Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons to her rehab, exercise, and movement repertoire.  She has also been incorporating  ... 



Mandi Ehler, PTA
Mandi joined Rehab Connections in order to follow her passion for continuing education. Her experience in the physical therapy profession spans almost 10 years. She has also helped to develop a unique PT/PTA practice model that utilizes her expertise and experience with billing, coding, and collections. Her clinical interests include canine rehabilitation, the Feldenkrais Method, Movement System Syndromes (Shirley Sahrmann), and Functional Mobilization™ (Institute of Physical Art).

After the event and when your Evaluation has been completed you will receive an email containing your Certificate of Attendance indicating the CE contact hours completed.  If you are unable to attend the entire course or workshop, you will receive an amended certificate indicating your actual hours of attendance.

Registration fee, less a $50 administration fee per session, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received more than 7 days in advance of the course or workshop. Tuition can be transferred to another individual or another course or workshop, one time only. No transfer, refund or credit will be given for cancellation 3 days or less before the workshop or course, or when handouts or other CE materials are available electronically, including but not limited to emailed or downloadable pdf documents.
Rehab Connections reserves the right to cancel the course or workshop up to 3 days prior to the course. Rehab Connections will not be responsible for any charges incurred by the registrant due to the cancellation of the CE event, other than the course or workshop tuition.
