Many clinicians are faced with the expectation to do more in less time with patients
experiencing pain, healing from an injury or surgery, and losing function due to degenerative
conditions. Basic science provides guidelines for "normal" healing, however do these apply to
the 93.2% of the US adults that are NOT metabolically healthy? Is it possible that extended
episodes of care are needed for optimal outcomes in physical therapy and occupational therapy
as a result of delayed healing and recovery? Integrating current concepts and studies related
to healing with traditional rehab protocols and progressions prepares the PT/OT clinician for
more opportunities to demonstrate significant improvement, provide caregiver training, and
document skilled intervention.
This new virtual workshop offers a plethora of concepts and strategies for the PT/OT
clinician to help their patients facilitate the physiological processes of healing. Learn how
to connect the dots for patients so they may be inspired to implement a few simple but targeted
strategies to manage their pain experience, minimize edema, improve blood flow, reduce chronic
inflammation, decrease risk of infection, and avoid recurrent symptoms to get back to doing
what's important to them!
